Ciment FonduŽ

Ciment FonduŽ is the world's first commercially manufactured calcium aluminate cement, patented by J. Bied of Lafarge 1908. The initial preparation was in response to the demand for sulfate resistant cement. Since then, subsequent research and product development revealed other properties of the cement that transformed it from being simply a sulfate-resistant cement into a binder for specialized applications that depend on its chemical, mineralogical and physical properties. It has also led to the development of a family of calcium aluminate products, with a wide range of properties that can fulfill many industrial requirements.

Ciment FonduŽ cement is one of six calcium aluminate cements available in North America. Dark brown in color, this is the darkest of the cements. The clinker for this cement is prepared in a separate production facility using a reverberatory furnace in which the raw materials are melted to form the clinker. The fused, very dense clinker is environmentally stable and can be shipped around the world in bulk without concern for degradation. One site for grinding this clinker into cement is here in Chesapeake, VA where we grind Ciment FonduŽ to 4,000cm 2/g Blaine surface area.

Ciment FonduŽ is a hydraulic binder with an alumina content of approximately 40%. Composed mainly of calcium aluminate phases, Ciment FonduŽ is ideally suited for refractory and construction chemistry applications. The primary mineralogical phase is calcium aluminate (CaAl2O4), which imparts excellent mechanical strength to mortars and concretes. Despite a 16% iron oxide content, Ciment FonduŽ is suitable for refractory applications where iron oxide can be tolerated (non-reducing atmospheres). Ciment FonduŽ is also recommended for use in products requiring rapid hardening, resistance to abrasion, mechanical shock, intermediate temperature exposure or where other high performance properties are required of cement.

Ciment FonduŽ is available packaged in 94-lb. bags, 3,000-lb. SuperSacks, p-d (pressure differential) bulk trucks and p-d bulk rail cars.

SecarŽ 71

SecarŽ 71 is the binder of choice for formulating all types of refractory castables, especially deflocculated, low water systems designed for the most demanding applications. Manufactured in Chesapeake, VA, USA, Le Teil, France, West Thurrock, England, and Tianjin, China, refractory formulators can rely on this consistent product for production anywhere in the world.

The construction products industry has also found many uses for this product including light colored grouts or any other color sensitive product requiring the advanced properties of Calcium Aluminate Cement.

SecarŽ 71 cement produced in Chesapeake, VA is a high purity, white, calcium aluminate cement. No admixtures or alumina additions are present. The clinker for this cement is prepared by solid state reaction under mineralogical control. The sintered clinker is then ground to 4,000cm 2/g Blaine surface area.

SecarŽ 71 is also recommended for use in products requiring rapid hardening, resistance to abrasion, mechanical shock, high temperature exposure or where other high performance properties are required of cement.

SecarŽ 71 is available packaged in 100-lb. bags or 3,000-lb. SuperSacks.

Disal

Disal is used as a major ingredient in different types of Superplasticizer formulations

Improves the flow properties of the concrete mix by dispersing the particles and preventing re-agglomeration. Improves the rheological and mechanical properties of concrete such as workability, compressive and flexural strengths, modulus of elasticity. Promotes usage of cementitious supplementary materials such as silica fume, fly ash and blast furnace slag.

Recommended for the following applications: High performance concrete Precasting Pumping concrete Concrete containing fly ash or silica fume Blast furnace slag concrete Specially shaped concrete slabs Architectural concrete Self-compacting concrete Shotcrete Lightweight concrete Marine concrete
